Great Canadian Entertainment (GCE) has added significantly to the company’s casino properties over the last year and that now includes a major addition to the Great Blue Heron Casino and Hotel in Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation.
GCE announced the grand opening of the new Live Entertainment and Special Events Venue at the property, which is one of the company’s premier destinations for gaming and entertainment. The news brings a major entertainment venue to the area.
“We are delighted to introduce this exciting new live entertainment and special events venue at Great Blue Heron Casino,” casino general manager Stella Gallant said. “This new addition represents our commitment to delivering comprehensive entertainment and event experiences for our guests and providing yet another reason to visit this exciting property.”
The Great Blue Heron is located about 90 minutes from Toronto and caters to guests from across the province. The new entertainment center boasts a total capacity of nearly 800 and will host live performances, concerts, and also corporate gatherings.
Event goers will find 12,637 square feet of space with an expansive and modern setting. The event center features an open cell ceiling grid of 4.4 meters, adding “to the overall aesthetic appeal and ensures a variety of technical systems can be easily installed,” according to GCE.
The versatile layout allows for various seating configurations, with options for tables and banquet seating, theater seating, or general admission options for larger events. The facility allows for several layout styles for event planners and organizers.
Great Blue Heron offers guests a modern gaming floor with over 600 slot machines, 16 table games, 10 electronic table games, and a 10-table poker room. The property also includes a 116-room hotel as well. GCE operates the property, which is owned by the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG).
In recent years OLG has stressed responsible gaming even more and the property also features a PlaySmart Centre on the gaming floor. The center is filled with interactive tools and responsible gambling resources available for all players, including how to participate in OLG’s voluntary My PlayBreak program to take a break from gambling.
